Trump Administration Mocks Judge's Order To Bring Back Maryland Father From Salvadoran Prison

Source: MEDIAite

Apr 4th, 2025, 7:59 pm

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt mocked a judicial ruling on Friday that ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of a man it deported. U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ordered the administration to obtain the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from the notorious CECOT prison in El Salvador and bring him back to the U.S.

Abrego Garcia is a Salvadoran national who was arrested in Baltimore on March 12 after leaving his job as a sheet metal worker to pick up his five-year-old son. The government has alleged that Abrego Garcia belongs to the MS-13 gang. But in a court filing on Monday, lawyers for U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement said Abrego Garcia was deported due to an “administrative error.” Abrego Garcia was one of more than 260 foreign nationals arrested in the U.S. and deported to El Salvador for imprisonment.

Most of those deported were Venezuelans who have no apparent connection to the Central American country. None of the people apprehended appear to have been given due process. “The record reflects that Abrego Garcia was apprehended in Maryland without legal basis … and without further process or legal justification was removed to El Salvador,” Xinis wrote in her order after describing the deportation as “an illegal act.”

In response, Leavitt slammed the ruling and denied the judge had any legal basis for issuing it. “We are unaware of the judge having jurisdiction or authority over the country of El Salvador,” Leavitt said in a statement. White House adviser Stephen Miller mocked Xinis on X, stating that she “thinks she’s the president of El Salvador.” Speaking of which, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele also mocked the judge’s ruling.

They WANT the judge to hold them in contempt and then have the appellate or finally the Supremes say the the judge can’t do that.

I’d like to think after this short time in office they’d realize he will destroy the country but if you zealously believe in unitary executive you don’t care.

Even "handmaid" Barrett isn't towing the regime's line. But know what? That doesn't even matter. Packing the courts was window dressing. An attempt to give the fascists an air of legitimacy. But even if they don't rule in the regime's favor, the regime will just ignore them. Rule of law is dead in this country. Might as well have the funeral.

one at a time and then hire their own Marshall’s which I keep reading they can do.

But judges are so cautious and concerned they will be slapped down. And the Felon bulldozer is running rampant. No shame, no fear.

afraid they’d lose. Then it would be off to the races for the felon, Dodgy, and the corrupt DOJ.

The mere thought of being held in contempt in the past would keep people in line. No more!

And those assholes are willing to push the boundaries to get that confirmed by the SCOTUS majority as they know neither the DOJ (by its current composition) or the Congress (via a combination of having a majority and being fearful wusses) will push back on.

They have a little less than 2 years (absent special elections reversing the HoR majority) to destroy our government and practically less time than that.

We have far less time than that.

Congress won't do it's part in all this. And even if we take the House next year, the Senate won't vote to impeach. And the courts by themselves cannot make contempt citations and fines stick. So from a practical standpoint, the regime can do whatever it wants. Only the people can stop them, but as large as the outrage is, it's not large enough. Roughly 1/3 of the populace is OK with this cruelty and evil because they're just as cruel and evil.

That's why, baring a miracle, I've moved on from the conventional approaches and fully embrace regional separatism. The country I once loved is dead for all practical purposes. We all knew our system had some serious flaws, but hoped we'd never reach a point where those flaws were exploited to the max by evil people. We could always rely on people of good conscience to make sure we didn't go there. Not anymore. In my mind, it's time for some of us to leave in whatever manner that may be. And anyone who wants to leave with us is welcome.

I hope today’s protests have an impact, but I think Trump and the GOP just don’t care. The GOP members of Congress seem to worry only about being primaried, not about being re-elected, which says to me they may have plans to rig the vote in 2026. Cheating in one way or another is now in the Republican DNA.

Leavitt has learned to lie very well for Mr. Trump.
