Iran Defies Trump Threat as Death Toll Climbs, Executions Loom

The Iranian judiciary is fast-tracking trials and executions as part of its brutal crackdown on mass protests across the country. According to activists, at least 2,571 people have been killed so far, and there are fears this number will rise as the fates of those missing become clear. Iran's Judiciary Chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, emphasized that the prosecution of detainees must be completed quickly and without delay, stating that those accused of violence or working for foreign powers face the death penalty.

President Donald Trump warned the Iranian regime against executing protesters, threatening "very strong action" and announcing the cancellation of all planned talks with Iran. Trump urged protesters to "take over your institutions," shared the message "Help is on its way," and reiterated his call for U.S. allies to get out of Iran. The Trump administration stated they are mulling various options, including military strikes, to support the protesters.

The demonstrations in Iran, sparked by anger over the dire state of the economy, are seen as the most significant challenge to the mullahs' rule since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The regime blames "foreign terrorists" incited by Israel and the U.S. for the unrest and claims to have total control over the situation.

During this process, Elon Musk has begun providing Starlink satellite internet service for free in the region to help protesters bypass the regime's communication blackouts and connect with the outside world. While social media is filled with videos showing rows of bodies, state media continues to broadcast footage of pro-government rallies held during the day to claim the regime still maintains mass support.
