I could even understand, if never sympathize with, a kind of sustainably maliciously greedy, autocratic worldview which I have not seen in our destructive species.
I tend to favor Arendt’s worldview on the banality of evil. I really owe Andy Nikiforuk for this piece as well as the DUer who posted about stupidity in the mental health forum. That was a video so I never got around to watching it.

I really respect people like Nikiforuk or Christopher Ketcham for documenting the devastation. (I got two emails back from Chris Ketcham and Yasha Levine! These are all people I consider true superstars and heros not those dimwitted celebrities and sportstars nor those criminal and murderous billionaires. I could find a calling as a preacher of the fire and brimstone type by now..lol).
It is true that I can never stand to read environmental journalism as it makes me feel wretched to read in painstaking detail what I know based on even a casual inspection of my own surroundings (the garbage heaps of Idiocracy are everywhere in my own overpopulated town in India - but hey its “development”! I love it when these types slap on a vaguely “progressive” framing that cannot possibly fool anyone except the type of person who passively reads any old slop- human or ai-and then drags themselves through life zombie-like repeating “durrrrrrrrrr - it is not extractive and parasitic data mining of no use to man or beast..it is “support of female entrepreneurs”..durrrrrrr”.
The political has become painfully personal for me in the last 14 years and I was trying to perfect my ostrich act as abstract politics and the personal are so different.
But the straw that broke the camel’s back was finding out from a rare cousin I trust and like (on Feb 26 or 27, 2026 - I am going to document things more exactly from here on out), that my sleazy local hospital was acquired by this creepy private equity group Blackstone. Then it all fell into place. At the very least nothing will be taken on trust going forward except with people, labs or communities like these which I know and trust because our systems of trust are broken.
I tend to have a soft spot for doctors - it is as unglamorous a profession as science and about care. That ended up making me susceptible some. I was myself very “durrrrrr” and failed to recognize that hospital admins (often people with only an MBA and no interest in care) and the doctors doing the shit work are different.
I lost my mom in 2021 and it was so preventable without this greedy extractive push and attendant confusion.
Reading “The Citadel” was the one thing that I found solace in. She had an excellent oncologist/nurse as well. And while I will never do ads for anyone, her oncologist had set us up with at least a genuinely useful home testing service (taken at face value. By now I have a no data sharing rule. The old academic approach to open and free no longer applies in this parasitic data mining environment. Standards for consent and IRB protocols in the real world will be established come hell or high water. Medicine is a profession of care not profit. Doctors get it. And nurses are exploited and our corrupt and creepy communist CM here is totally on the side of the most parasitic type of business leader. Another movie addict-that guy.
These parasites are straining everyone and they live in game or movie worlds and want to take us with them).
That is an example of a for-profit with at least an honest service as long as a data mining racket is not added on.
This will have to be fixed. The costs of care and services cannot skyrocket while the actual quality of those falls. Again no common sense.
Why would anyone support that except out of some kind of terminal civility or sadomasochism.
I am female and my own honest livelihood in stem has been laid to waste so I look sardonically at this totally bogus “development” pitch I see in our foul papers and think various unprintable things.

On the material side I have determined that legal conflict is the only way forward and then you come under scrutiny at least in a court room.

But they have been and the only real key to building back is to look past the surface and get why anything ticks and more profoundly. Did it in the end make your life or anyone else’S better. Yasha Levine gets it. He combines genuine pragmatism with a “far left” or really just balanced perspective. He is always correct..Yasha. He asked recently what the point of the recent Seymour Hersh documentary was given the state of journalism.
It is easy to give up these days and I was trying to but the nuisance level, that in no way was anything but malicious has made it too unviable. I really did try to stay out of the fray.
Criminal liability is what I will get to stick..anything these parasites could use to smear one as a fellow traveller - greedy or destructive and narcissistic would help them as their playing field gives them a clear advantage. So much of even legal conflict comes down to perceptions by neutral outsiders. Dishonesty favors them and I am trying to rid myself of the self-consciousness that afflicts the normal white collar worker who wants a quiet life.
It is daft that you can fit the chestnut of the “screwed over little guy” completely by some point and still find that such an objectionable framing and vaguely histrionic that you try to stick with non spectacular templates..I hate the entertainment industry. This is a diseased society.
If you are not overtly who you really are you will be confounded, as I was dully inspecting some behavioral scripts that would be way too mechanical to take. It is hard for the human who is not a public figure and never will be to adapt to this environment. But not impossible.
Overthinking is a trap..
If these people did not like the relatively modest (given the sheer scale of depredation) regulations the always cool Lina Khan was bringing in maybe it is time for truly draconian populist pushback.
I hope that is a message they get. What is the point of “privilege” or education that turns you into yet another perma “durrrrrrrrr”.
