Trump's age finally catches up with him

When Bloomberg News editor in chief John Micklethwait raised the question of Donald Trump’s age during their conversation at the Economic Club of Chicago earlier this week, the former president got suddenly defensive.

-snip-

The reason Trump didn’t simply say that Biden was too old, it’s safe to assume, is that he’s not that much older than Trump. Trump was the oldest president in American history at the time that he served. Biden surpassed him. But if Trump were to win in November, he would reclaim the title in 2028. The last thing Trump needs is people throwing past comments about age back in his face.

Particularly given new indications that he, too, has lost a step.

In early August, The Washington Post reported that Trump’s campaign schedule was far lighter than it had been in 2016 or 2020. Even in the midst of the pandemic, Trump’s calendar had been busier by midsummer than it was this year. In response, Trump defenders suggested that he was just getting geared up, with the slow pace perhaps a function of the attempt on his life in Butler, Pa.

And a lifetime of eating red meat and McDonald’s fast food wouldn’t help. He may be exhausted, but maybe his handlers know his dementia is getting harder to hide. Swaying on a stage for 40 minutes when people came to ask you questions is more than a bit strange.

Only really big. This is the most horrible thing I've seen in my life. It's so obviously a terrible scam and fraud and so many people have bought into it.

Due to the stupid TV show. But that is almost 10 years ago and so many horrors later. How this is still happening is way beyond belief.

3. IMO, Donald Trump has shown that he's too old for the job

His behavior before and after his ugly attacks on Joe Biden showed that he was no longer physically up to the time-consuming, burdensome job of being President of the United States of America. What with his increasing physical limitations and mental impairment, he’s shown that he’s just not up to the job.

This is not a partisan issue. Nor is it just about age. Joe Biden—and Bill Clinton—have both shown that they’ve got most of their faculties. But fair or unfair, DJT has shown that he’s in serious mental and physical decline.
