Excerpts: "WHAT WILL YOU DO NEXT? Do NOT take that pedal off the metal. There’s still two weekends to knock on doors in swing states if you live in or nearby. And we can make calls to voters until the last vote is cast.
Many people feel intimidated by the prospect of talking to voters. Don’t! Your purpose in reaching out to voters is to GET OUT THE VOTE, to remind them to vote, to help them identify their polling place, to answer the occasional question. You will be calling or knocking on the doors of likely Democratic voters so your goal is not to convert votes, but to get them to the polls. Calls this week will eliminate Trump voters from the lists so that reminder calls in the final stretch can target Harris/Walz supporters.
There are many organizations coordinating calls and buses to swing states. If you want to call from an onsite phone bank, investigate some options (see BTRTN website for link) See if any are near where you live. If you’d prefer to call from home (have some friends join you and do it together if you like), sign up (see BTRTN website for link). Give it a try. If you make some calls and find you’re not comfortable, you can always stop. But I’m betting you’ll keep dialing.
