Today's Tiedrich rant: as if you needed more proof that Republicans are cruel racists

the US is the only place youve ever known. you have no memories of your place of origin; you were too young to form any. America is your homeland.
you grew up here. you were educated here. you speak English. you obey the law. you have a job, and pay taxes. you are a contributing member of society.
are you one of these people? if so, Republicans have a heartfelt message of compassion for you and that message is, fuck you. enjoy your bus ride to the detention camp.

Vivek Ramaswamy on Dreamers: if your first act of entering this country broke the law, that doesnt allow you to remain in this country. you have no right to enter the United States illegally.
Jonathan Karl: I mean, they came in as [young as] 2, 3, or 5 years old.
Ramaswamy: no migration without consent. think about your nation like a body. that consent should only be granted to migrants who benefit the United States of America. but those who enter without consent must be removed.
Karl: so they must be removed, these people that have spent their entire lives growing up [in the U.S]?
Wow ... just wow!

Imagine the fear Dreamers are experiencing.
Even if they had the means, where can they go without a passport these days?
They're trapped.
Wildlife has more privilege in the US than they do.

(36,031 posts)I'm US born, as are all my siblings and extended family. However my daughter-in-law (married to my son for almost 30 years) comes from a Filipino family. Both of her parents as well as her older brother were born in the Philippines. They emigrated to the USA in 1970 and my DIL was born here.
I guess that makes her the "anchor baby," however they didn't think of it that way. They became naturalized citizens as soon as possible and they never looked back. DIL's older brother was about 3 years old at the time, and he has no memory of his infant years in the Philippines. Her father passed away about 4 years ago but her mother is still living in New Jersey.
Now Chump (through Ramaswamy) is saying that my DIL's brother and mother have no right to live here, and they could be rounded up. This is terrifying as well as extremely upsetting.
