Last week, news broke that complaints were flooding in from enlisted soldiers that their commanders were telling them the war in Iran was secretly a way to trigger Armageddon.

Of course, to white Christian nationalists, this isn’t just a good thing — it’s something they’ve been prophesying and looking forward to for decades (and, honestly, much much longer than that). People like Israel Ambassador Mike Huckabee believe that a checklist exists that he and others like him can use to bring about the rapture, and wreaking havoc in Iran helps them tick off the boxes.

It doesn’t matter that they’re causing the destruction that leads to the end of times. They are in service to God and J.C., apparently.
