(38,639 posts)Preferably apple pie made with tart apples & vanilla ice cream on top. But pumpkin works, too.

(27,638 posts)I always look forward to making a divot at the top of my heap of smashed taters and filling it with a ladle of giblet gravy.
I know this wont make the top 4 in the end, but I like oyster dressing (stuffing), but it must not be very popular. At least it isnt in my family.

(22,836 posts)I like the taste of oysters but hate the texture. I would pick out the oysters and give them to my sister and just eat the scalloped part.
Back when I lived in Boston, I took a dish of scalloped oysters to a Thanksgiving potluck. One of the other guests was asking everyone who brought the oysters; he was from South Carolina and it was a family tradition for him.

(22,836 posts)Anyway, she drained the oysters and put them in a buttered baking dish, crumbled up a ton of crackers and layered them on top, then combined the liquid from the can with cream and poured it all over the top. Dotted it with butter and baked it til it was bubbly. I used to pick out the goo and give the oysters to my sister.
I loved the taste but not the texture.

(18,957 posts)If at home then mashed potatoes, or maybe on occasion (yum!) potatoes au gratin.
A memory popping up. I think my mom made this for Thanksgiving, definitely for Christmas.
Greek meat stuffing. Ground beef, onions, butrer, garlic, raisins, and chestnuts(!), which made it unique for me, and maaaybe another ingredient, or two. I remember my mom making the "X" cut on the chestnut shells before baking.
The usual version actually has rice in it, but my mom didn't add that. However my sis's very long time friend whom I once got invited over for the holidays; his mom was Greek-American, and she added the rice.
It was a very tasty stuffing!

(24,370 posts)My sister makes the best carmel pecan pie - it is to die for!!!
You only asked for 4, but mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole are also required as well as something green.
I love our big Thanksgiving dinners, even now that we have dwindled down to 6 people. We just cut down on the meats, we used to have 2 turkeys - 1 regular and 1 Cajun and a Honey Baked Ham. This year we will cut out the Cajun Turkey and get a smaller regular turkey and try to find a generic spiral cut ham. Honey Baked Ham went up so much in their prices, it's $100 for a 10 lb ham there this year - not paying that amount!!

(525 posts)Smashed Potatoes, Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce.
The meat can be Turkey (preferred), Ham (just as tasty as turkey), or whatever protein the cook wants to feed me.
Several different kinds of Pie are also acceptable.
Just make sure to have the First Four. They are what make the Thanksgiving meal Special.
