My family's holidays in the past...

On Thanksgiving we'd go to my Mom's Mother's house, we'd have the traditional dinner, the guys would sit in my Grandmother's living room watching football, while women would collect and gossip.

Us kids would go outside and play, throwing a football or a Frisbee around.
There was even a set of lawn darts.

At Christmas, we'd celebrate on Christmas eve, go to church where they had the Christmas play, then come home and open the gifts.
On Christmas day, we'd go down to Grandma's house again, have Christmas dinner, then the usual football among the guys, gossip among the women, and us kids would go outside and play in the snow.

Sometimes my parents would pile us kids back in the car and then we'd go visit a few of my Dad's relatives.
On one of those trips to my Dad's relatives, I saw the house in Milwaukee I was actually born in.
Hospitals were suffering a staph epidemic, a couple babies died.
So my Mom had me at home.

All of this ended in the late 1980's, when my Grandma had dementia and in 1989 she died.
All of my uncles and aunts have died since then.

Nowadays we gather at a sister's house, this year we'll be on Thanksgiving at my younger sister's house.
