back when most of my income came from street performance,

my landlord was very amused whenever I paid rent entirely in $1's
when I'd accumulated $750 in quarters stacked neatly on my desk
I asked how he'd feel about getting paid in quarters
he didn't go for that

Having to run (on foot) to the bank with a backpack that weighs a ton because you need to convert it all into something that the landlord would accept. Heh.

Some mime. Some busking. Some 'wandering crowd worker'. Yep. I never was able to work at a Renaissance Fair, but I would have loved to!
