It dries on the cob darker and has an amazing, almost nutty flavor once it's cooked.

I don’t have any forebears who settled in New England, so the pilgrim stuff is right out for me. I guess I could include a jar of lutefisk as a side dish to acknowledge my Nordic forebears or haggis for Scottish ancestors, but these dishes definitely didn’t get passed down through generations in this country.

from my Irish grandma. It is mashed potatoes with sautéed greens and scallions stirred into them with a lot of butter. My grandma would say, big knobs of butter. Use any kind of greens available: kale, mustard, dark outer leaves of cabbage, chard. Great idea for a post, Deb! Happy Thanksgiving DU Family!😊

I may make a noodle Kugel on Thanksgiving. That is one of my favorite naughty, high carb recipes saved for special occasions.
