I saw the movie yesterday. It was beyond fantastic! Having said that, I had NO idea it was two-parts with part 2 not being released until this time next year. That's actually fine with me because it'll give me more things to look forward to. (Due to recent events, I'm really lining up whatever I can....short road trips, more gatherings with friends, etc.).
My question is this: Was the stage production two parts? I'm so confused....

(1,603 posts)It was a good show.
I also read the book, and I would advise you NOT read the book if you want to enjoy the musical or the movie.
Edit: to correct poor typing.

(106,881 posts)And while I have no doubt I'd love the music in the theater (Broadway or on film), the ads with Cynthia Enrico hitting her iconic high notes 20 times a day are making me crazy. Even my dog gets upset if the TV volume is up too high.
Maybe a few days with a bit less TV will make the difference.
I hadn't realized it was in two parts either. Geez. I think there is another movie out now or coming out that is like that. Both good and bad, I guess.

I hadn't seen a lot of commercials because I have mainly streaming and cable. It's the luxury I allow myself because entertaining shows and movies are what gives me much joy....

(9,262 posts)I just love the idea of creating a story (prequel) regarding how and why everything happened the way it did!
Thanks

(49,142 posts)We were traveling to NYC to watch a family member performs.
The WSJ had a list of new Broadway openings trying to recover after 9/11.
And my spouse selected Wicked because.... Joel Grey was playing the Wizard. We had no idea what it was about and I fell in love with Idina Menzel. I went to see Frozen just to see and hear her.

(9,262 posts)I, of course, have heard about Wicked for years but never saw the play. I'm glad you guys were able to see it. I remember after 9/11 how they were getting Broadway back on track.
Thanks!

We plan to see it next week when the crowds die down.
All our friends who have seen it say it is a fantastic movie. I've never seen the musical on stage but do know some of the music. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

(9,262 posts)I read up a little about it. They could've made it one movie but it would've been compromised. I think them making it two movies was a great idea.
I don't think you'll be disappointed.....
Thanks
