Anyone watching/watched Love, Actually?

Not sure what to make of it. There seems to be older men hitting on younger female employees.

Emma Thompson has a great acting scene crying.

Fans? Thoughts? Non fans?

it's kind of a regular one this time of year. And iDK where you think it's got older men and younger girls? The secretray throwing herself at Alan Rickman (though that character wasn't very redeemable). Colin Firth's character wasn't that much older, nor was hugh grant really...

It does show love in so many different ways in different people's lives. There was heartbreak and joy and reality all over. It didn't have the classic 'happy ending' that many people prefer; rather, it showed how love can play out in a variety of situations that happen in real life.

Highly recommended!

My husband and I are having an abbreviated thanksgiving dinner a bit later! I bought a half a turkey which is baking right now. The other fixings are in the fridge, and ready for me to prepare them.

The day has been quiet; I did some laundry. Saturday we're driving to see our family about 50 miles away; we'll have the more traditional Thanksgiving then. We haven't seen them in months, so this will be a very good time.

It is sweet. Alan Rickman’s character is a fool. His wife is not. The writer, whoever the actor is, is a sensitive soul who falls in love with a Portuguese girl — and she loves him back. The little boy whose stepfather is a widower falls in love with a same age American girl, and boy and dad figure out how he can win her heart.

There’s a lot of age-appropriate pairing-up. Anyway it has grown on me.

My favorite seasonal movie is The Hogfather, by Terry Pratchett. Only watch it if you are okay with a magical and very pagan take on the Winter Solstice.

I see no reason to over think it. It's really just a series of fantasies woven together (what if I got together with the cute guy from my office? What if a pop star sang naked on TV? Do Wisconsin girls really act crazy for British accents?) with a bunch of actors at the top of their game playing the parts. I think everyone who watches it can relate to one of the scenarios.

And in a burst of reverse inspiration, the last scene seems to be the impetus for all the stories being told at once.

There's a reason people love it.

Love Actually is a Christmas Classic. I watch it every year.

It shows the many, many types of love - A step-father's love for his step-son after the mother dies...... A sister (Laura Linney) who has devoted her life (along with her job) to her mentally unstable brother whom she would practically give her life for, as well as several other sub-plots of romantic love.

IMHO, it's one of the best modern day Christmas movies...
