and no, I have not been sulking for the past few weeks after a majority of my fellow citizens put that back into power rather than vote for a woman.
Somebody (and a phalanx of lawyers are fighting over who) broke the main water supply into the second floor of this three story complex, draining the water sprinkler system, the heat pump distribution system, one of the main hot water boilers, and a few other smaller things, creating an ankle deep flood on the second floor which then traveled down through light fixtures, elevator shafts, and stairwells onto the first floor, taking out electrical control pnels for several systems on its way. My apartment was completely trashed. I was evacuated with only the clothes on my back, although experience with other disasters had me ignoring the command to get out, now, to grab my winter coat.
I have a bed in a room with intermittent heat and access to a bathroom and that's been it for the last 3 weeks. I eon't know if I have anything left .
I bought a cheap laptop at Wally's (yeah, I know, but don't you dare judge me until you've spent 3 weeks sleeping in your clothes) so things will look up soon, at least when the first Amazon order (yeah, I know, go to hell) comes in.
FML.
I might not be around much, the laptop's OK but not with my eyesight.

We may not be able to do much more than to offer an "ear" and to provide a space for venting, but I hope you will let us know how things are progressing.

(6,173 posts)moisture problems. But I was wondering is a phalanx of lawyers more or less than a brace of lawyers? Just FYI those WM laptops self destruct within days of being powered on for the first time. I don't know if DU gets past the firewall for the ones at the library.

(95,416 posts)As for your retail choices absolutely no judgmentalism from this corner. You do what you need to do, and do it as soon as you can. Thank you so much for checking in with DU.

Love your editorializing here. People are so judgey at times. We all have to do our part and some have more privilege than others. I don't judge and I don't care to explain my choices when I'm doing what I can do.
If I can help you in any way, please let me know. Hope things look better soon!

(47,673 posts)I'm glad you're hanging in there, somebody's in a lot of trouble if they figure out who, and such discourtesy. Aimed at fellow dwellers, or owners?
Yes water will trip circuit breakers. Lucky no fires. Wally's and Amazon we're all stuck with, and don't knock a good cheap laptop. I have one bought for the portability and simplicity. It won't charge a cell phone, won't run a usb drive but it boots fast and runs for hours.
Keep us posted, that setup is good enough for a Stephen King.
Oh my goodness! How terrible! I hope you can get it all straightened out. Best wishes!
