Once, he and C.S. Lewis dressed as polar bears to attend a non-costume party. He also liked to dress as an Anglo-Saxon warrior and chase the neighbors while brandishing an axe. He dressed as a warrior when he was teaching a course on Beowulf. He liked to prank his students.
