I remember looking forward to the day that my Mom would pull out the stencil set and we would work together designing all sorts of Christmas scenes on the window looking out to the street.
We'd tape the stencil onto the window and sponge the Glass Wax over the stencil. When the Glass Wax dried we'd take the stencil off the window and like magic the pic on the stencil was displayed promenently on the window.
We'd also decorate the mirrors inside the house. We'd use food coloring to color the glass wax to make the pics look even more spectacular.
I kinda would like to get my hands on some of those stencils and experience this childhood memory again - but I haven't seen Glass Wax being sold anywhere in a long time.
Does anybody know if Glass Wax is still available or if there is a replacement product that can be used instead.
These stencils and getting a new part for my Lionel train set from Santa every Christmas are two fond memories of my Christmas Days past.
Those were the days - things were so much simpler then!!! That was a long time ago as I'm 76y/o now.
Happy Holidays DU!!! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

(FYI...There's a product available today called Gel-Gloss that works exactly the same way, and I'm sure Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann's and Michael's are full of holiday stencils...probably already marked down.)
Try Golden Gel Gloss at craft and art stores.
Think you should take a look at this short video on two ways to stencil your windows for Christmas.

(53,270 posts)glass wax that dries chalk white. I typed in glass wax and stencils and that came up. Showed lots of Christmas stencil sets also. What a nice memory. We did that with a can of spray snow but the wax would be so much better looking and easier to clean! Happy Holidays to you!

(70,662 posts)But, my mom & dad were in the "hard no" demographic.
So, I was aware of them. I remember them running commercials for them.
But, we never had them.
