Two shots to get the party started. Now, an American Beauty. Brandy, dry vermouth, orange juice, grenadine, créme de menthe, and ruby port.
Yummy!
I love you all

Bristlecone

Ever read them?
Excellent reads.
The port at the end of your recipe surprised me a little. With those ingredients, what is the drinks final color? Brown I assume, but Im always wrong.

(68,671 posts)I think I stopped after HMS Surprise. I hope to finish the rest of them someday. As time goes on, I have a harder and harder time reading fiction. Most of what I read nowadays is non-fiction; history, biography, science, etc.
Without the port, an American Beauty is kind of salmon-colored. When you add the port, it becomes reddish-brown.

(8,794 posts)what's your favorite vodka cocktail?
Aristus
(68,671 posts)Nice and relaxing. And it prevents scurvy.

(24,344 posts)My favorite cocktail is Grey Goose and tonic with 2 orange slices. I muddle one of the slices and just put the other one in the drink and eat it when done, yummy!!! It has to be Grey Goose though, no other Vodka tastes nearly as good, at least not to me. I love the hint of orange in Grey Goose, it just makes it so much better than the rest - IMO.

(130 posts)And for my question (Ask me anything):
When I grew up, there were 4 basic food groups. My children were taught its a pyramid.
What I want to know, is, does carrot cake qualify as a serving of vegetables?
Inquiring minds...
Aristus
(68,671 posts)I love carrot cake. But I could never recommend it as healthy eating.

(130 posts)It's carrots...
Aristus
(68,671 posts)Now look what you did! Im craving carrot cake!
You know who serves an incredible carrot cake? Black Angus steakhouse. Its heavenly.
Earl_from_PA
(130 posts)Carrot cake is a well balanced meal. The 4 food groups:
Fruit and veggies: Carrots
Cereal grains: Flour
Protein: Eggs
Dairy: the Frosting
Pyramid be damned...

(68,671 posts)I have suffered three patient-induced contaminated punctures, though. Each time, I was administering a local anaesthetic to a patients toe prior to an ingrown toenail excision.
Even though I always tell them to hold still, in each case, the patient jerked sharply when I inserted the needle, causing it to go all the way through the toe, through my sterile glove, and into my finger.
I had to postpone the procedure, and get tested for HIV and Hep C. I was able to conceal my irritation with the patient each time. But I dont recall any of them coming back for a second attempt.
Interesting thing: all three of the jittery patients were guys. Ive never had a female patient react that way. Female patients in general are just braver than the men.
