The orange cat I used to have (miss him so much) always wanted the kitchen faucet running, not just dripping, and he'd sit on the divider and use alternate front paws to see how far he could splash the water in different directions...stopping occasionally to drink from a cupped paw.

(25,695 posts)...told to me by one of the nurses at the first private pediatric office I worked for.
Her husband worked for the water department and one customer kept getting really high water bills that made no sense because she lived by herself, with her cat. When the water authorities sent someone out to investigate, they found that her cat was the culprit - he was repeatedly flushing the toilet many, many times a day and watching the water swirl down to entertain himself whie his mom was away.

(385 posts)She used to sit on the edge of the tub and bat at the bubbles--until the time she jumped into the tub. Shall I say neither of us enjoyed that

(47,610 posts)I lived in an old house with a back yard. A cat who'd already been caught, neutered, and released took up residence there. This is Oakland, so she didn't have to cope with extreme weather, and there were plenty of places to get out of the rain. I provided food and water, and she was happy.
She eventually turned into a real lap cat. She'd sit in my lap whenever she could. I decided to sell my house and move into an apartment. I didn't want to leave her to whomever moved in, so the people from the awesome Oakland animal shelter caught her and put her up for adoption. She only lasted about an hour on their website before someone adopted her. I'm so happy for her and the lucky people who got her, but I miss her tremendously.
My current place is too small, but I wish I could borrow a cat for a few hours from time to time.
