Music trivia - what rock act was originally signed as "The Crackers"?

That name didn’t appear anywhere on their first album so they become known by another name that was in the liner notes.

The were just the band so they went with it. That’s how I understood until I saw a clip about this in Facebook.

Rick Rubin originally wanted The Black Crowes (from Atlanta) to be The Kobb Kounty Krowes but the Robinson brothers said HELL NO.
