So our big family gathering did not happen this year, and Mr YD and I made plans to have lunch out with his sister and a friend.
Checked a list of open places, and a number of them were very expensive dinners at places like Del Frisco's, Ruth's Chris, Worthington Hotel Buffet.
Innocently we went to Ol' South Pancake House, which never closes. There was a 2 hour wait.
Then we tried IHOP which we thought would be open. A few phone calls revealed they were closed.
Saltgrass steakhouses were open but closed at 2.
So we were driving down Hulen street, because we knew the Denny's (YUCK) at Hulen and I-20 was open. We passed Boston Market and Lo and Behold! they were Open! We went there and had a nice lunch. My friend had never eaten there. It was tasty. I have always liked their food, and the creamed spinach was as good as ever.
Later I found out there were some places that were opening at 5 pm.
If we do this again, there will be much phone calling.

(3,947 posts)in the Philadelphia suburbs, hardly anything is open -- certainly none of our regular haunts. So I get to try again to make a neat omelette -- haven't quite hit it yet -- and my lady does scones. From mix, of course.

(44,743 posts)All the ones near me have closed. And its a shame, because I like their food. They were something different in the fast casual category when they opened, but I guess people have moved on to newer, hipper places.

(22,819 posts)There is a huge one on I-10 west of El Paso that is excellent.
However the one at Hulen and I 20 may be the worst one I have ever run across. It was crowded though
