I'd stay here/home (UNLESS could be in Britain, Italy, or France with my daughter!)

(10,374 posts)... as a former New Yorker, I never did the Times Square thing - always thought it would be too crowded. Now, I regret that... it would be cool, well COLD, too! I did do the Rose Parade sleep over in CA.

(38,492 posts)marched when Penn State was in the Rose Bowl and marched in the parade. They did the sleep over in CA.

(10,374 posts)... our "sleep over" here is when we go the night before and sleep on Colorado Boulevard! Another thing we did was get a good parking place and sleep over in the car. I used to go to Colorado Bl every Sunday and shop around. "Old Town Pasadena" will be setting up the stands and roadblocks about now...

It's OK by me. I've been to so many amazing events in NYC. Well, not since covid.
But did get to the New York Botanical Garden this past summer after 4 yrs not going.

(70,625 posts)Between 1977 & 2007, my bands played NYE 28.
Another 2, the band wasn't together long enough to ve gigging and/or have an NYE date booked. So, the band through a party where we played.
So, I've long been New Tear's Eved out.
But, if I was actually going to do NYE & could go anywhere because I'm guessing in would be fun it would be: Sydney, London, or Naples.

(18,724 posts)1] Never been there, would love to visit. Though which island?!
2] only once have I been in a very warm place when it was cold here in NYC.
A gifted vacation to Puerto Rico in
earlyish March about ?20+ yrs back. . It suddenly got down to close to single digits ?windchill, not sure, or straight cold up here, while it was 85° down there.
And since PR has close ties w NYC the San Juan News Channel showed a reporter in NYC in a seriously hooded coat reporting on the cold w map.

(2,074 posts)The first place to celebrate New Year's is Kiritimati Island, also known as Christmas Island, which is part of the Republic of Kiribati. Kiribati is located in the Pacific Ocean, east of the International Date Line.
Kiribati is the first to celebrate New Year's because of its location in the world's farthest forward time zone, which is 19 hours ahead of New York City. For example, when Kiritimati celebrates New Year's Day at midnight, it's still 5 AM EST in New York City.

(77 posts)My ancestors came from there and I have always wanted to go to Ireland and see where my great grandparents lived, visit the church where they were baptized and married and then tour the rest of the country. What a dream it would be to ring in the new year listening to a session at an Irish pub! Happy New Year Deb! I hope Paris is in your future!

(9,914 posts)For New Years Eve, I'd rather be in a quiet town or village in the Adirondacks.
Staying in a log cabin, going antiquing, hiking, taking in the scenery.
