I am her husband. This note is to announce she has had a heart attack and could not be revived Monday Oct 7 2024. I got her started with my family's history of political action. She was very active in local national campaigns.
no one saw it probably because it dropped off the page from when the thread was active.
she was one of the other horse people here on DU and we had some other conversations about geneology and travel. my favorite memory was the year we exchanged local honey. I sent some mesquite and catclaw and she sent me a big jar of tupelo from Florida. I am so sad to have found this so late. I think I still have her address and will send a card and a link to this thread if anybody wants to post memories or condolences.
editing to add this photo from an old thread we both posted in
subject line was "1968 with my horse"

R.I.P. csziggy It is always a sad moment to know we've lost another one of our own. I appreciate her husband taking time to let DU know csziggy is no longer with us.
Thank you, Kali, for giving us the news. I'm sorry for your loss.

(10,497 posts)I just made a reply in the original thread, the one that her husband posted to.
How sad that only now have we heard this news. DU'ers always show up to support each other, and their families. I hope her husband and her family see this, and will know that we are thinking of them.

(31,180 posts)She would talk about her life in Florida.
Perhaps election busyness distracted people from reading the post about her passing.
Kali
(55,941 posts)he replied "as her" to her OP in October. I am pretty sure by that time the thread was "archived" and wouldn't kick back up to the top of the Lounge so nobody would have seen it until actively looking for her last post. when I tried to send a PM to her I didn't check that thread, just saw she had last posted in June but had done some recs in October. several have now replied to his post but the thread isn't on page one of the Lounge because it is out of range to be kicked back up.

(32,512 posts)May it be beautiful behind me.
May it be beautiful below me.
May it be beautiful above me.
May it be beautiful all around me.
Above and below me hovers the beautiful
I am surrounded by it
I am immersed in it
The mountains, I become part of it
The herbs, the fir tree, I become part of it.
The morning mists, the clouds, the gathering waters,
I become part of it.
The wilderness, the dew drops, the pollen
I become part of it.
From the doorway of rainbow,
The path out of which is the rainbow,
The rainbow passed out with me,
The rainbow rose up with me.
Through the middle of broad fields,
The rainbow returned with me
With the rainbow hanging high over your head, come to us soaring.
With beauty before me
With beauty behind me
With beauty above me
With beauty below me
With beauty all around me
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.

So sorry she has passed. I did see the original post from her husband.

Saw my cardiologist today and got news and bad news - and good news
The back story - Last December I had an echo cardiogram which had my doctor send me for a CT scan. They found a thrombus (aka clot) on my aortic valve - which had been replaced via TAVR (TransArterial Valve Replacement) in 2017. So they put me on warfarin to dissolve the clot.
The night of January 5, I couldn't breath when I laid down to go to sleep. My husband headed us towards the hospital but on the way we stopped at the local fire station and they called an ambulance. I passed out before it got there. I woke up in the hospital the next day, intubated and doped up. Spent four days total there.
While there, to cardiothoracic surgeon who oversaw my TAVR stopped by. He told me about 10-15% of TAVR patients get clots. If the clots don't respond to warfarin, they have to do open heart surgery since they can't take the chance of breaking the clot loose which could cause havoc somewhere else in the system. Goody.
Yesterday I got another echo cardiogram. Today was the followup to all of that. The good news is that the clot is gone. The bad news is that the aortic valve is no longer working right and leaking so I am back to where I was before they replaced it.
The other good news is that they can do another TAVR and put in a new aortic valve! But I have to get additional tests before that can happen. So I am not sure when anything is happening
