The Truth About The Kanye West/Taylor Swift "I Made That Bitch Famous" Feud

Last edited Sun Dec 10, 2023, 02:57 AM - Edit history (8)

Taylor posted this on Instagram in July 2016:

2009 was when Kanye interrupted Taylor's acceptance speech at an awards show and announced that Beyonce should have won, inspiring President Obama to call him "a jackass."

"Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that bitch' in the song?" is an excellent question. Unfortunately for Taylor, this is also an excellent question: "Why didn't you ask that question five months ago?"

If Taylor had complained that "The lyrics Kanye read to me did not contain the word 'bitch'" when the song was released in February 2016, Kanye and his wife Kim Kardashian would have had to keep their mouths shut about the video -- not so much because they may have recorded it illegally, but because it would have proved that Obama was right.

While all three of them are guilty of lying by omission, Taylor would be running victory laps over "Kim-Ye" in her stiletto heels if she also hadn't counted on no one being able to prove that she'd lied by omission. Sorry, Taylor, but that means the "assassin" of your character was actually you.

Very calculated. Not interesting. Creepy actually. Nepotism and big money are huge in the arts.

Billboard.com, 6/8/2017: "In celebration of (her album) 1989 selling over 10 Million Albums Worldwide and the RIAA's 100 Million Song Certification announcement, Taylor wants to thank her fans by making her entire back catalog available to all streaming services..." (Swift's) rep(presentative) said in a statement...

Billboard.com, 6/9/2017: Swift’s camp has been in ongoing talks to put her music back on Spotify since she pulled it three years ago – prompted by Spotify’s refusal to let her keep her tunes off of its free tier. After the Recording Industry Association of America notified Swift's camp her song catalog was approaching 100 million certified units earlier this week, she decided to quickly pull the trigger...

Going forward, Swift is likely to have at least some of the control she had originally sought on Spotify thanks to the streaming service’s new agreement with Universal Music Group, which allows the label’s artists to “window” their releases on the paid service before the free tier...

Male cattle droppings -- contrary to the insinuations of her public statement, the trigger was pulled for her.

Spotify went over Taylor's head and cut the deal on behalf of everyone on her record label -- she was going into streaming no matter what. But rather than quietly accept defeat, she tried to make it looked like she had "decided" to settle her differences with the streaming services out of "consideration" for her fans -- and (coincidentally of course), the deal resulted in putting her over the 100 million certification mark. So much for her pioneering artistic integrity.

What you can't -- and shouldn't -- do is use your success as an exemption from being held accountable for your actions when your plans don't go right.

TMZ: There's a good reason Taylor Swift called out Kim Kardashian in...(the) TIME (magazine Person Of The Year issue)...over a now 7-year-old phone call with Kanye West -- it's an incident for which Kim still has not apologized...

Remember, at the time of the track's release, Taylor expressed outrage over Ye's lyric ...
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex
Why? I made that bitch famous.

In response...Kim posted her version of the recorded phone call in an effort to prove Taylor understood exactly what the song would include. However, the full unedited version of the recorded call eventually came out, and it became clear Kanye had not revealed he'd refer to Taylor as a "bitch."

Taylor still owes everyone an apology for sitting on her alleged anger about the lyric for five months. And Kim owes everyone an apology for sitting on evidence that would have instantly cleared her own husband until it could benefit her TV show!
