and smacking with pillows had become regular behavior and I figured out where it was being modeled.

Its as if they really didnt like each other even though they were brothers.
I watched the 3 stooges when I was a kid but watching as an adult I was horrified by the violence and bullies of Moe.

At the time of the filming of this newsreel footage, the Stooges hadn't yet appeared in a film as a solo act though they were likely an act since the first film with Shemp, Soup To Nuts, when they were still with Ted Healy, was released a year later in 1930, according to the book "Much More Than a Stooge: Shemp Howard." And I would guess that a lot of the "violence" was tempered for the films. It really had to have been.
