(10,208 posts)Was anything but gently weeping. Hell of a historic event in music. PBS repeated it multiple times over a week plus, fund raising early December.
Great way to start off a Sunday. Dhani was sure loving it.

(692 posts)I'm not a fan of his music so I had no idea he could actually PLAY. This has been shown many times and with good reason.
Thank you for reminding me of the GREAT music and musicians we older folks had the good fortune to experience.

(62,544 posts)... to itself over the whole the whole performance. After the contract BS and Purple Rain, I listened a lot less.
The first time I saw this I couldn't figure out what in the hell he was doing onstage. And then he blew them all off the stage.
I was also struck by how much Dhani looks like his dad at that age.

(62,544 posts)... it best, there's no need to explain a thing.
I wish he'd done a little more guitar, but for a singular artist, he blended well well and gave everyone a chance to shine. I really miss him as the musician more than I do as an artist.

(70,736 posts)The best part of Prince's solo is around 5:20. Some really good ideas executed terrifically. Also, earlier when he's doing all those extreme bends, his control is masterful. That's harder to do than it looks.
I also dug that the other guitar player basically played George's solo from the record. They both have wonderful tones, too.
When seeing these performances, I still can't get over how much George's son looks like he did at that age.
Thanks for the reminder--I try to watch this at least once a year. Incredible stuff.
