Musicians
Related: About this forumFinally saw the recent "Elvis" movie.
What a disappointment. Between the music video editing and Tom Hanks' bumbling portrayal of Col. Tom Parker, it was really awful. Austin Butler was decent as Elvis (and I did like the Comeback Special scenes), but the rest of the movie was pretty forgettable.
Just before I watched it, I finally had watched "Sun Records," the multi-part miniseries from CMT. Although this wasn't perfect, it was much much better. More realistic (a little too much in spots) and the music was better. No rap like in "Elvis". (FYI, This is available on Paramount+)
Have started watching "Priscilla" on Max. The beginning looked good.

(155 posts)I thought it was very good and that Austin did a great job but then again I am only old enough to remember fat Elvis so I didnt have any memories to compare it to.

(3,801 posts)Yes not perfect but a fun enough watch and really was centered on his relationship with his sketchy manager.

(10,204 posts)The Priscilla movie portrayed Elvis as a real asshole. Not much of a womens rights kinda guy.
He may have been a MAGA if still here.
He made his fame from black roots music, so you would think he would be a Black Lives Matter.
Black music sure mattered.
