It cracked me up when CSN&Y had their tour during the Iraq War and people were walking out, complaining that they should just stick to their old hits and not be political.

I’m not sure where such recruitment took place. Right wingers have tried to use the song for political purposes for years but the song is hardly a ringing endorsement of Americanism.

Speaking in a much larger context; does any song make you change your political stance? I grew up in the 60’s and I can’t recall a song making someone change their political views. Certainly none of my conservative high school classmates listened to Dylan and had a political epiphany. Reinforce already held beliefs, yes. Up against the wall mf’ers after hearing Jefferson Airplane? I don’t think so.

I'm not the biggest Bruce fan, but he wrote a song expressing anger & disillusionment. How else could he have sung it?
Yeah, he sounds enraged. It's appropriate.
