NEW YORK (AP) At the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last year, Sheryl Crow was about to sing her hit Everyday Is a Winding Road when she invited a rock icon up on stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, I have to bring out one of my heroes Peter Frampton, she said as he appeared to huge cheers, slid on a Gibson electric guitar and made musical sparks immediately curl from the instrument.
Frampton was still jamming away when he got a hug from Crow and then Stevie Nicks. When he went into a blistering solo, there was a wide smile on his face. Thats how you do it, Peter Frampton! Crow screamed.
Call that electric performance a dress rehearsal. This year, Frampton finally will be inducted into the rock hall himself, an honor his fans believe is long overdue. The ceremony is Oct. 19 in Cleveland.

(9,782 posts)First with The Herd, then forming Humble Pie with Steve Marriott, and on to solo success. His guitar style is unique and very identifiable, mixing rock with jazz finesse. I saw him perform twice in the early-mid 70's opening up for The Kinks and ELO, and the audience responses were very enthusiastic on both occasions. Frampton is way past due for this honor.

(10,506 posts)He is as he comes off in his interviews, a very nice, gracious, humble (excuse the Humble Pie thing) man.
And of course, a good guitar player.

Singer Burton Cummings and Guitarist Randy Bachman fronted one of the best-ever groups to come out of Canada.

(70,636 posts)They had a ton of hits, too.
Plus, they had range (American Woman & Undun?) & no other band sounded quite like them.
They should have been in long ago.
