learning to use note flight here. any users? dont play an instrument but do write tunes so I am learning a lot.....

so far the hard bits are eights and 16ths notes and getting the tune to swing. easy with only quarter notes but thats not where the action is. I can get the bars to flow by trial and error but composition wise don't really understand the mechanics

...swing is induced by triplets. So, a quarter note triplet (3 notes on each beat) but further characterized by having a rest on the middle note.
Over 4 beats is would be: Note/Rest/Note, Note/Rest/Note, Note/Rest/Note, Note/Rest/Note.
Counting it we'd be One Afain, Two Again, Three Again, Four Again, with most of the "A"s in again silent.
It also helps to strongly accent the 2 & the 4, which makes swing similar to rock.
