(121,098 posts)One of our falls here has a small depression behind it, reached by a barely-visible trail. I used to get a to-go lunch from a deli, and have my picnic behind the fall. Very soothing to the soul.

It is beautiful but be careful.

(5,531 posts)The mist can make the steps treacherous toward the bottom.
The last time I was there crowds from the tour busses left no choice but to go slow.

(1,230 posts)I very much enjoyed this refreshing field trip. I can almost hear the water falling, and smell the damp woodsy earthy forest aroma. My windows are open and the creek is up from recent rains, which may be enhancing the experience.😉
And the icy shots at the end gave me a welcome shiver on this hot and humid afternoon with thunderstorms rolling our way.
As always, Mousetoescamper, many thanks for sharing.
