(CNN) — Three people were shot and another person was stabbed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona during a family dispute in one of the terminals on Christmas night, police said.

The incident happened at a Terminal 4 restaurant, outside the security perimeter, where responding officers found three people with gunshot wounds about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Phoenix police Sgt. Mayra Reeson told reporters early Thursday.

Officers later detained a juvenile female and a man in the parking garage. The man had at least one stab wound, Phoenix police said.

“I believe this was a family dispute that escalated,” Reeson said, adding that police believe all five people involved know each other.

Having spent yesterday with family in an encounter totally free of bloodshed, as I imagine most did, I can't even begin to know how to relate to people who behave in that manner. That's probably a good thing.

Yeah, i get there might not have been a lot open, but these werent travelors if they had knives and guns.

They wouldnt have been able to get them through security, so why have them unless they were just there to eat?

the family dynamics but be crazy!

The absolute worst Christmas I ever had was when I went with a friend to his parents house for Christmas. He came from an abusive family but I didn't know it was THAT abusive. The mother spent the entire evening wailing, yelling, crying, and moaning about how her mother-in-law abused her. Then she went on about having to take care of her husband who had a stroke years earlier and doesn't "take care of her" only she used more graphic words. No physical violence but mental abuse was evident. Later, after they all drank a lot, they (mother, father, sister, and brother) went out gambling (this was in Las Vegas). I was aghast they would do that on Christmas eve/Christmas! I didn't go and we left as early as we could, driving 6 hours to get home. It was the worst Christmas I ever had, and I vowed never to go to that house again!
