'The People's March': Thousands expected to attend anti-Trump rally in DC ahead of Inauguration Day

By Jillian Smith Published January 12, 2025 6:46pm EST FOX 5 DC

WASHINGTON - Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on Washington, D.C. Saturday for "The People’s March," a demonstration to oppose President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration on Jan. 20.

The rally is expected to begin at 10 a.m. on Jan. 18 and the march is set to take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting at the Washington Monument.

It’s being organized by several activist groups, including Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, Abortion Access Now and the Women’s March.

"In 2025, the U.S. will begin a new presidential term with the start of an openly authoritarian administration. We face a government of billionaires, con artists, and white supremacists who are enriching themselves while dividing and attacking our communities," the event website reads. "They unite to divide. We must unite to rise."

We have a political party that is anti-democracy. R's.

We have a corrupt supreme court. (They have been corrupt for decades)

We have unqualified judges across the nation. (appointed under trump)

The justice system failed to stop trump. (trump is officially deemed above the law)

He faced zero consequences for trying to overthrow the government.

The losing political party compared him to Hitler but they shake hands, smile, and vow to work with him.

I fail to see how a 3 hour march, after the fact, will change anything.

3. I know, three hours. It's going to be a local thing, from the looks of it. And good morning. NT

9. I can't understand criticism of any kind of direct action. Not satisfied, organize larger and more consistent.

All resistance is appreciated:
Direct action
Indirect action
Passive action
It’s all good.
We can all identify the problem; it isn’t productive to attack those actively addressing the problem.
