P.S., this incident would have been visible to me, as I lived in apartment in SW, with a view across the river.

I would have seen Jan 13 1982 accident, but was walking across the Mall from my office @ 12th + Constitution.

It looks to me as if it’s approaching from the side. A previous guest pointed out that a helicopter is much slower and likely wouldn’t catch up with the small jet.
