PM Update: Rain redevelops overnight and persists through Sunday.

After a wet start to Saturday, the afternoon ended up featuring much brighter skies and drier conditions. Unfortunately, this period of pleasant weather is not built to last. Rain moves back in after midnight tonight and pretty much sticks with us for the duration Sunday and into Monday.

Through tonight: Clouds quickly thicken after sunset, but we remain dry for the remainder of the Saturday hours, despite a bit of a sticky feeling in the air. Light rain breaks out across the region sometime after 2 a.m. Temperatures will settle in the mid- to upper 40s, with a light east wind about 5 mph.

Tomorrow (Sunday): Steady rain will be falling from the morning through at least the early afternoon. We may see a few hours of drier weather in the afternoon before more rain moves in by the evening. Temperatures will be in the mid-50s. Rain continues overnight and into Monday morning, with lows in the upper 40s.

Forecast in detail
With how frequently it has rained, sleeted or snowed this month, it’s probably no surprise we’ve got a few wet days ahead. That’s what happens when we get a four-day streak — just completed — with none! If we’re lucky, today’s rain doesn’t mess with the whole day. Tomorrow might be trickier, but there’s still time.

Tomorrow (Sunday): If you’re looking for a break in the rain, this is not the day for you. Plan on at least periodic showers and perhaps a steadier rain at times. It’s hard to narrow down the timing, with rain seemingly possible throughout the day. We’ll try to clear that up in newer forecasts. Temperatures are similar to today, reaching the mid- and upper 50s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: This pattern is slow to move, so our skies remain cloud-filled and occasional raindrops are also a good bet. With all the moisture in the air, temperatures don’t get much below the mid- or upper 40s. There could be some fog again as well. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead
Showers may persist into at least early Monday. The frontal boundary does want to sink south of us with time, so I think rain ends in the midday or afternoon. Getting much in the way of clearing could be tough. Highs end up in the 50s near midnight Sunday night, but we may spend most of the day in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

It’s much chillier Tuesday. Morning lows are deep into the 20s, with highs struggling for 40 or so during the day. The good news is it should be quite sunny and winds look to be fairly light. Confidence: Medium
