Recall election stopped; Harrell granted injunction

The recall election in Fort White is off.

Third Circuit Judge Fred Koberlein granted an injunction to Councilman Lonnie Harrell following an emergency hearing Monday in regards to the recall election for his District 2 seat on the Fort White Town Council. The recall election had been set for Tuesday.

During Monday’s hearing, Harrell’s attorney spoke as did Giorgio Thomas, one of the chairs of the recall committee, and County Attorney Joel Foreman, who was representing Supervisor of Elections Tomi Brown.

Following their arguments, as well as written responses previously filed, Koberlein granted the injunction and advised Harrell’s counsel to coordinate and schedule a hearing if a trial is deemed necessary moving forward.
