Dog the Bounty Hunter, Wife Lobby Against Hawaii Justice Reform Initiative
Duane "Dog" Chapman and Beth Chapman and their massive blond manes were hard to miss Tuesday afternoon at the state Capitol.
The stars of A&E's "Dog the Bounty Hunter" reality series were not visiting Hawaii legislators to look for fugitives from justice.
Rather, the Chapmans were seeking to derail the Abercrombie administration's "Justice Reinvestment" initiative, a data-driven approach to reforming Hawaii's criminal justice system, which would include freeing up prison space.
The Chapmans testified against Senate Bill 2776, the major Justice Reinvestment legislation before lawmakers.

Like talking to a guy who you just ran after, roughed up and sometimes beat up and then cuffed, with dog and his dolly parton look alike wife talking smack about ice and the effects drugs had in their lives is supposed to be helpful.....
Looks like Hawaii like other states are finally looking to get real professional help for these addicts, not some overpaid, overweight, out of shape, narcissistic bounty hunters running down bond jumpers.....
Hawaii has a slightly different culture than much of the rest of the United States. We have the highest number of multi-generation households - family bond and shame run strong.
And fuck ice...No ice in paradise brah.
Also, the professional help is decidedly 12-Step for the most part, and that doesn't exactly work either. I've seen it myself. Their approach isn't totally far off, but they haven't handled fame well.
I know a little somethin bout Hawaii since my daughter and family live on one of the most beautiful of these famous islands....
and your point about multi generational households is true....with family bonding being strong....so...
Ice is everywhere and especially in Hawaii....
and if you know of a program that has done more for addicts than 12 step....then tell me....I am all ears....
and handling fame, oh they have done a pretty good job of that.....
I don't think their schtick works so well on the Mainland. But it does in Hawaii, where despite having made fools of themselves occasionally, they remain "local heroes" to many (check the comments to the article).
I have two relatives who have been ice heads and they went clean without 12 step. 12 step has a very low success rate. People change because they want to change. Into what is the question...
I find their "hey wake the fuck up speech" to be just as effective as 12 step 
or "hey wake the up speech" as being effective......
because you are absolutely correct that people change only when they want to change....
no matter what the program....
