SPRINGFIELD In early July, a judge in downstate Clay County voided Gov. J.B. Pritzkers executive orders in a sweeping order that he applied to the entire state, at the request of a southern Illinois lawmaker who sued Pritzker over his response to the pandemic.
More than six months later, Sangamon County Judge Raylene Grischow has essentially voided Judge Michael McHaneys July 2 order in the case of Rep. Darren Bailey, R-Xenia.
Baileys lawsuit against Pritzker claimed the Democratic governor had exceeded his legal authority in issuing a stay-at-home order in March to fight COVID-19.
Pritzkers lawyers asked Grischow last month to reconsider the July 2 order from McHaney, who initially presided over Baileys case before it was transferred to Sangamon County.

(2,388 posts)That if you still need the government to tel you how to stay safe or to force you to stay safe I say go and do whatever you want we won't miss you. But the government might think about passing some laws making anti maskers and others who are spreaders responsible for the results of their actions

(14,418 posts)In Michigan, I haven't heard of one person being charged, yet government officials think they can just order people to obey by saying "please" with virtually zero enforcement.
Imagine how effective traffic laws would be, if there were no penalties for speeding, running red lights etc. ?
Laws, rules and regulation have no meaning if no one enforces them
