Fort Leavenworth hospital employee guilty of setting boss on fire

A former Army hospital employee at Fort Leavenworth was found guilty Monday of setting his supervisor on fire in an attempt to kill her.

A federal court jury in Kansas City, Kan., found Clifford D. Currie, 55, guilty in the September 2016 attack on First Lt. Katie Blanchard, who suffered severe burns to her head, face, upper torso and arms.

Currie, a civilian employee of the hospital, was convicted on a charge of assault with the intent to commit murder.

The attack occurred last Sept. 7 in Blanchard’s office at the Munson Army Health Center at Fort Leavenworth.
