Experts: Kansas seeing 'uncontrolled spread' of COVID-19
Kansas is among 18 states nationwide experiencing an “uncontrolled spread” of COVID-19, according to a map posted online by a group of health and crisis experts.
Those states were displayed in the color of “bruised red” in the map, which could be found Monday at www.covidexitstrategy.org.
“As a country we’ve reached a record number of cases,” the site said in a post dated Friday. “We’ve added a new color to the scale: ‘Bruised Red.’ There were extremes that were not captured in our original scale. Our scale also has been adjusted to put more weight on ‘new cases per million’ and ‘positivity.’ ”
Kansas had experienced 132 new COVID-19 cases per million over the previous 14 days while its percentage of positive tests over that time period had increased from 9.1% to 10.3%, the site said.
