DLCC Announces Slate of House Targets in Kansas
WASHINGTONToday, the DLCC announced seven Target Races in the Kansas House as we aim to break the GOP supermajority. Kansas Republicans have weaponized their supermajority since 2010 to enact harmful and unpopular legislation, including overriding Democratic Governor Laura Kellys vetoes. State Democrats are just 5 seats away from breaking the GOP House supermajority, and these Target Races are among the most competitive and consequential races in the Sunflower State.
The DLCC is working directly with the Kansas House Democratic Caucus and Target Race candidates to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact. House Democrats in Kansas already have momentum on their side after announcing their best candidate recruitment in 30 years. The DLCC has an ambitious Target Map to capitalize on this once-in-a-generation opportunity to shift the balance of power in Kansas and across the country this November.
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:
Over fifteen years of a Republican supermajority have left too many Kansans behind as families across the state struggle to afford the most basic necessities like health care, utilities, and groceries. This November, Kansas Democrats have a historic opportunity to make significant gains in the House and push back against the GOPs unpopular agenda. Democratic momentum is undeniable, and on the heels of record recruitment, the DLCC isnt wasting a moment to support the Target Races that could shift the landscape of power in Kansas. Its past time to end the era of unchecked Republican power in the state, and the DLCC has the plan to get it done this November.
