Dems Lack ‘Firepower’ to Defeat Sen. McConnell

[A Little Weird]

One of the biggest goals of the year for Democrats has been trying to find a candidate in Kentucky who is willing to run against Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader. But the last man who tried to defeat him has new words of advice for his party: good luck.

Bruce Lunsford, a wealthy Louisville businessman who challenged McConnell in 2008, said Democrats face an uphill battle trying to win the seat. He said it would be a high-risk move for anyone with a political future, considering most of the rivals who have tried knocking off McConnell have never run for office again.

First they pressure Ashley Judd to drop out and now seem to be warning anyone else away. Democrats in Kentucky are their own worst enemies.

1. True for Dems, as a group, in most states

I always struggle with this.

Dems as individuals usually have the right principles in place but, en masse, Dems seems to have missed out of the strategy and organization gene.

The Obama machine of 08 and 12 probably wouldn't have been such a story had it occurred on the rethug side.

2. This is Kentucky

They bashed Judd not because she couldn't win,it was because she was the only one that could.

You see here Democrats feed at the ALEC troth too with the exception of Yarmuth and a few others and Judd would have not played ball with the true traitors of our country there for she had to go cant have progressives rocking the boat of Corporate America.

The sad thing about this whole situation is way too many Democrats bought the whole to liberal to win Bullshit,played right into the hands of ALEC just like they do every time.

4. Kentucky does have very few prominent progressives

It's like two warring factions of "good ol' boys". It's hard to get behind either one.

I think it's very possible that Judd would have lost because she was too liberal for KY, but on the other hand, she may have surprised everyone by inspiring people to get out and vote. I think there's a real hunger to see someone run on their principles and not on the 'say whatever you think people want to hear' platform. I don't think she's the only one who could win. But Dems will have to stop sniping at each other and pick a candidate to get behind.

5. IF..

If anyone else could win you can bet they would be running, Judd's a threat to status quo so you hear local media bash her who is also feeding at ALEC's troth because a lot of their advertisers are members.

Americans need to stop accepting all the bullshit we hear on for profit media,When you hear Judd is too liberal to win there is motive behind that message, it is not common sense simply because you hear it parroted.

Getting out the vote is exactly what she would do,most voters are not as informed as you and I her celebrity and love of Kentucky basketball would bring out not only a high number of Democrats but Independents as well, She is also the only Democrat who is going to pull republican voters who don't understand the difference between the two party's for the reasons i mentioned above, no one else is going to do that.


With out her we would be lucky if half the state even knows there is a election which means we auto concede to Older Church going voters who are reminded by their right wing pastors to vote.

3. If Democrats want to add "firepower" to their campaigns, they should remember ...

... that half the population doesn't vote, because neither party offers them squat. That's where the votes are, waiting for the Democrats to advocate for ...

Medicare for All

Strengthening Social Security

Legalizing pot

Cutting defense to pay for it all.
