Louisiana's school aid plan clears final hurdle in legislature; here's what it includes

Legislation that would authorize spending $3.7 billion for public schools for the 2017-18 academic year won final legislative approval Monday.

The state Senate endorsed it 35-1, and the House did so last week.

The package includes a freeze in spending per student for Louisiana's roughly 720,000 public school students. However, it would increase spending for dual enrollment by $10 million.

Dual enrollment allows high school students to earn college and career credit.
