The strange maze of the DMV

I decided to pay registration online. I have done this before but this time it was really confusing.

First, I used the link from the mailing info: drive.mn.gov

Among the hits was one specific for renewal. The top of the page was selling me insurance.

I tried to get out and ended up in different sites, one of which was asking for the state!

I finally went to step one and I was at the homepage.

So I entered the details of the vehicle.

The options on how to pay were credit with high service percentage, or ACH.

I have no idea what ACH is but chose it and it appeared to be OK: bank routing, account number, confirmation, email, confirmation and finally submitting with a summary. An email confirming this came immediately. But..no place is the amount authorized listed. Yes, confirmation number, time and date of the submission and that, indeed, it was for registration renewal.

I will have to follow the activity on my checking account for the next few days.

Curiouser and curiouser..

It's the primary system that agencies use for electronic fund transfers, and it enables money to be electronically deposited in banks so payments can be made online without using a credit card. Nothing unusual about it.

This includes purchasing with Pay Pal.

I only do In Line banking. I go to the bank and stand in line. Lines are no longer long.
After ordering an item on line once I got hacked and it became a nightmare.

Now that you mention it, I generally am able to walk right up to a teller. That could be problematic: If a bank sees that as being too easy, they'll see that as an inefficient, money losing service. Can't have that. Goodbye in-line banking.

They see me all of the time. Same with self check out, not me. Fast food? I’m not signing up for the app. Take a bottle of water and a healthy snack in hand when I leave the house.

She is happy with my health, for a 73 year old. But, I could always get run over by a bus tomorrow.

That way I still control how much I pay and when I pay & a dozen different outfits have not been given access to my account. The bank sends the amounts on to the vendors.

When I do pay for something on line (like my tabs) I have one credit card that I use only for on line purchases, never my debit card.

I did not have the issues you had when I got my tabs this year but that was a almost 3 months ago, maybe something has changed since then.
