Amazing! Snow on the ground. In December, in Minnesota

Barely one inch. December 2023 has been the warmest on record.

1. 4" of new snow up in Central, Maine overnight.

Rain froze on the trees, then turned to snow. Looks like winter now, but I doubt it's gonna hold, the ground isn't really frozen very deep.

2. We have barely a dusting in mid-Michigan

It was kind of a wintery mix when I went out to feed the ferals.

We've had an unusual amount of rain, this December, with temps in the 40's and low 50's. Very, very odd.

3. We had some light flurries a few days ago,

In southern Kentucky.

4. Here in southern MN, the lake froze over,

barely, for a couple of weeks, and is now open water on 12/31. We've also been in a long drought. We really need a -lot- of snow to make up for it.

5. Here in NE Kansas, in my little town,

we had one 2" snowfall, and a slight dusting last week. It's been cold... but not anywhere near what it usually is for this time of year. Strange days, indeed.
