KETV Staff Report

OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha police said a woman who was shot near 37th Street and Grand Avenue Wednesday night has died. ... OPD said paramedics rushed the woman to the hospital in extremely critical condition, performing CPR on her on the way to the hospital. OPD Lt. Neal Bonacci told KETV NewsWatch 7's Kale' Searcy the woman later died at the hospital. Bonacci identified her as Dontayzhia Swift, 19.

Lt. Brian Schmaderer said ShotSpotter technology alerted them to gunfire in the area around 9:05 p.m. and multiple activations continued until 9:08 p.m.

Bonacci said Dontayzhia is the second person from the Swift family to die this week from gun violence. He would not confirm if the two shootings were related. ... Lamarantae Swift, 16, was shot and killed early Sunday near 24th and Decatur streets. Five other people were injured in that shooting.

A First Responders prayer walk scheduled for Thursday night was canceled due to the "sensitivity of the homicide," according to organizers.
