@CNNPR @MSNBCPR - national news reporters continue to mispronounce western states, particularly NEVADA. Let them know that after more than 150 years, they should educate themselves. https://1-dot.com/usa/english-vs-spanish-pronunciation

California (Portuguese) named for Queen Calafia.
Nevada SPA for snow accumulation (Must have been a bizarre time back then)
Arizona SPA for dry area.
Colorado SPA for red
New Mexico (duh)
Texas SPA for tiles on colonial style houses
Florida SPA for plant life, flora.

Life is confusing. I am of Italian ancestry, so I interpret words in a latin way for the most part. (*)

I also come from New England, home to Hahvid, Woosta and Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.

Now, in California, home to Pittsburgh, Antioch, Albany, Concord, etc. plus Mah-RIN County ... life is confusing.

(*) OK, too make things worse, Italian and Spanish swap the hard and soft "C". So we have cerrado, closed ( sehr rahdo ) in Spanish, unlike cembalo, instrument ( CH em ba lo) in Italian.

Mannaggia!

RESIDENT: Ha-va-ii.
