The seat was held by Diana Richardson, who's not running for reelection.
Cunningham got over 62% of the vote, the Working Families candidate got 34.5%, and the Republican/Conservative got 2.9%.

It should be noted that Richardson was considered a Democrat, even though she appeared on both the Democrat and Working Families lines over the years.

NY law allows a party to cross-nominate a candidate with another party.

Parties need 150,000 votes to maintain their automatic ballot access. Obviously the Democratic and Republican parties easily reach that, but it's harder for smaller parties. So WF will usually cross-nominate Democrats in more high profile races and that allows them to get the votes to stay on the ballot for other races where they run their own candidates (like this one). It lets people support third-parties without wasting their votes in important elections. Bernie, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Chuck Schumer all encouraged Democrats to vote for Biden/Harris on the WF line in 2020 for that reason.

Just wanted to explain for anyone curious about Working Families.

There was no way for the republicans to take that seat.

His opponents were to the left of him.
