Ugh. Anyone smell the smoke from NJ Palisades brush fires very early "morning" 3:30AM+

Thought it was a smokestack release, but after 10 mins getting worse, and subtle differences in smell decided it was real fire.
Checked news at that point - nothing.

Then realized, "Hey, I got masks!" 😄 Cut smell by 80%+! But couldn't sleep w it. Finally back to sleep around 7A. More nap after lunch.

2. There are several fires going on. How do you know that what you are smelling comes from that fire?

Plus having just double checked the map - I am close to a straight line from NJ to passing the very northern tip of Manhattan Island into the going northwards middle of the western side of The Bronx.

The NJ/NYS border isn't for at least another 4+ miles north of me. 👍

Yes, wind direction (and smoke) usually goes from west to east. So the smoke you smelled did come from the Palisades Parkway.

It was the first time that I remember (in my late 30's+) anything like that had ever happened.
