More than 16,500 New Yorkers cast ballots on first day of early voting

More than 16,500 New Yorkers cast their ballots across the five boroughs on the first day of early voting Saturday, according to the city's Board of Elections.

Manhattan led the turnout, with a total of 7,581 ballots cast in the borough alone. Brooklyn followed with 4,111, then Queens with 2,949, the Bronx with 1,448 and Staten Island with 413.
