(533 posts)Even republicans voted against it in referendum. It reminded him that Ohio's not a red state but a swing state. So he decided to swing left and ok the medicare expansion of Obamacare by doing battle with the legislature controled by the GOP, even vetoing a budget bill that forbade Ohio from expansion. Kasich did an end run, by having the Contoling Board, a committee that can make small changes in the budget, ok medicare expansion, which pissed off the legislature.
This is what Kasich is thinking, that he can 'left flank' the clown car and come off as a centrist--he is going to act like a republican third wayer-- but really he is a corporate Reagon type. Because of this he is dangerous, the most dangerous one, I think, since Christie has the bridge. With the branding in Ohio and his quote, " centrist bonifides' he is the republican with the best chance to win the presidency If he can distinguish himself in the clown car, get name recognition, and not get tea-partied in the primary.
